What happened to missing Samantha Eastwood?

Samantha has not been seen since she finished work as a midwife at Royal Stoke University Hospital on Friday, July 27.

She did not return for her next shift and a nationwide hunt was launched after worried family members contacted the police.

CCTV released by cops show Samantha leaving the hospital just before 7.45am.

Further CCTV shows her driving her Volvo XC60 from the hospital car park heading towards the Hilton Road exit – this was the last time she was seen.

Forensic officers have been searching her home in Stoke-on-Trent and a neighbour described hearing a scream from her home at 2pm on Friday.

The midwife was trying to sell her unused wedding dress for £400 after the marriage “fell through” before she disappeared.

Samatha, who is from the Baddeley Green area, is described as white, around 5ft 3inches tall and of medium build.

She has shoulder-length ginger hair, brown eyes and has a fair complexion with freckles.

Has there been an arrest?

A 32-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of kidnap, has since been bailed.

The hunt is focused on Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire despite initial suggestions she could be in Whitby, North Yorks.

Detectives have also been trawling through CCTV footage to establish if she boarded a train after sightings of her at a railway station at midday on Saturday.

On August 4, three people were detained in connection with her disappearance after police found a body.

What has Samantha’s family said?

Her mum Carole Eastwood, 59, shared Samantha’s post on social media as she tried to sell her unworn wedding dress.

Samantha wrote on

Marketplace: “Bought in sample sale. Not worn apart from being tried on in the shop.

“Size 14. In very good condition apart from a few loose threads and broken zip head (zip still works).

“Will consider offers. Ideally for collection.”

Her uncle Barry, 61, from Macclesfield, Cheshire, confirmed she was due to get married.

He told the Daily Mail: “Samantha was going to get married but it fell through.

“She went to Keele University and she went down to Staffordshire and met a lad there. He has been out looking for her.

“I am concerned about Samantha though I have not seen her for a long time.”

Where are police searching?

On August 4, officers from Staffordshire Police cordoned off a rural area near Stoke-on-Trent as specialist teams moved in to carry out searches of the Caverswall area.

The tiny village has a population of 971 people and is around nine miles from where Samantha was last seen.

Detective Superintendent Simon Duffy said officers are “working round the clock” to find the missing midwife.

On the afternoon of August 4, police searching for Samantha confirmed they have found a body and have detained three men in connection with her disappearance.
