Belgian centre-back Alderweireld has been one of Jose Mourinho’s main targets to strengthen his defence ahead of the new season.

Spurs value the 29-year-old at around £75million which is a figure United is not willing to meet.
But, according to the Daily Mirror, Alderweireld is willing to wait and run down his contract in order to join United.
But he’ll have to wait until 2019, as his contract has another year to go.
The defender is so determined to move to Old Trafford that he would snub any move accepted by Spurs this summer.

The transfer deadline closes at 5pm on Thursday.
There is a one-year extension in Alderweireld’s contract that Spurs can trigger but that also activates a £25m release clause.
Talks took place last season about a new deal for the defender but broke down as his representatives asked for £180,000-a-week.
He has been at the club since 2015 when he joined from Atletico Madrid.
Alderweird missed three months of last season due to injury.
