BRITAIN’S defence chief has warned that Russia will try to wreak havoc with Britain’s next elections.
General Sir Nick Carter issued the alarm as he tried to persuade Theresa May to stump up more resources to tackle “emerging threats” from the Kremlin.

Asked whether Russia has tried to undermine the UK’s political process with methods such as fake news, Sir Nick said: “We have seen evidence of that in Montenegro, there are clear cases of this happening in the United States of America.
“So the answer is we have to expect that those sorts of things are going on.”
The general also warned that Russia’s hybrid warfare assaults could spark as miscalculation that could lead to full blown conflict.
He added to BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme: “I don’t think any of our opponents want to go to war in the traditional definition of the term.
