MUMBAI – Public sale home Sotheby’s has despatched its prime India government on a depart of absence pending a probe into nameless allegations of sexual misconduct.


Gaurav Bhatia, the managing director of Sotheby’s India, has agreed to take depart of absence as a proper inquiry is underway into nameless allegations on social media, Sotheby’s stated in an announcement, simply days forward of its first public sale within the nation.


“Harassment of any kind has no place at Sotheby’s and we’ll completely examine these allegations with Gaurav’s full cooperation,” it added.


Bhatia didn’t reply to an e-mail looking for remark.


Sotheby’s didn’t say who would conduct the probe into the allegations in opposition to Bhatia. It plans to go forward with its inaugural public sale scheduled in India’s monetary capital of Mumbai on Nov 29.
