China’s state-owned CNPC has changed France’s Whole in Iran’s multibillion-dollar South Pars fuel venture, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh mentioned, in keeping with the semi-official information company ICANA on Sunday.


“China’s CNPC has formally changed Whole in part 11 of South Pars but it surely has not began work virtually. Talks have to be held with CNPC … about when it would begin operations,” Zanganeh advised ICANA, with out giving additional particulars.


Whole, which had a 50.1 % stake within the venture, and CNPC couldn’t instantly be reached for remark.


The French firm mentioned in August it had advised Iranian authorities it might withdraw from the South Pars fuel venture after it didn’t receive a waiver from U.S. sanctions in opposition to Iran.


In Might, business sources mentioned CNPC was able to take over Whole’s stake within the venture.


The offshore discipline, which Iran calls South Pars and Qatar calls North Discipline, holds the world’s largest pure fuel reserves ever present in one place.


CNPC already holds a 30 % stake within the large discipline, whereas Nationwide Iranian Oil Firm subsidiary PetroPars holds the remaining 19.9 %.
