A convicted assassin who absconded from an open jail has been noticed in a church in Hampshire.

Sussex Police have launched a CCTV picture of Jeremy Brabrooke at St Religion’s Church within the city of Havant.

He had been sentenced to life imprisonment in 1988 for the homicide of a 59-year-old lady in Bingley, West Yorkshire.

The 56-year-old inmate left Ford Jail in West Sussex on 14 November and was noticed on the church later that day.

A police spokesman stated: “Officers are eager to find and detain the 56-year-old, who was final seen on the jail on Wednesday (14 November).

“He was captured on CCTV at St Religion’s Church in Havant, Hampshire, later that very same day.

“He was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1988 for homicide in Bradford, West Yorkshire, and is understood to have hyperlinks to Hayling Island and Portsmouth in Hampshire.

“Anybody who sees him or is aware of the place he could also be is requested to name 999.”
